Election 2016

The reaction to Donald Trump’s victory one month ago sparked many people, including many prominent celebrities, to speak their minds and their disagreements with Mr. Trump taking office.

Notable celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, JK Rowling, and many others tweeted their displeasure for the election results. There were many that were voicing unity and staying together as a country in face of a lot of uncertainty moving forward.

One tweet that I remember vividly was Chris Evans voicing his very strong opinion. “This is an embarrassing night for America. We’ve let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We’ve let a bully set our course. I’m devastated.”

It was definitely a devastating night for many minorities and people around the country. However, I saw a country band together and rally around each other to create a sense of safety and optimism.

Many people around the country are now scared about the future and what Trump will bring once he does take office in January. Trump has said a lot of outrageous and outlandish things throughout the campaign that many fear could change this country for the worst, especially for minorities. Even when Trump has said some very outrageous things, his Vice President Pence has also said some other things that have people worried.

There were many people saying “Give Trump a chance.” There were many times during the campaign when he said demeaning things toward a lot of minorities and groups that wouldn’t warrant giving him a chance.

Now in the face of a lot of uncertainty and fear that a lot of us have, it is time to rally together and stick together through a presidency that may create conflict throughout the country, as seen by the many protests and walkouts around the country.
